President & Chief Executive Officer
I thank you for your understanding and continued support as Ability Partners, Inc. works in partnership with community health professionals to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. As the essential provider, the health and safety of the individuals we serve and the staff members who help them are of the utmost importance.
We are in communication with and monitoring daily Centers for Disease Control (CDC), State and Local Departments of Health, State Education Department, Office of People With Developmental Disabilities, Federal, State, County, and City emergency planning preparedness and guidelines. The decision to close several services on site was made in consultation with and in response to directives from these government agencies.
Distance learning and telehealth and medicine is being delivered when and where possible to individuals who want these services from our Mental Health Clinic and Article 28 & 16 clinics.
We have made considerable adjustments to our daily operations, yet continue essential services and functions in support of the 6,600 individuals we serve and our workforce.
Residential Services continue to operate 24/7, but changes have been made in pre-screening practices and the restriction of visitors at these homes to help slow down the spread of this virus. Many dedicated employees continue to work in our homes, and employees from other agency services that have been closed are working tirelessly to provide a comfortable, safe and motivating opportunity for the 48 individuals who live in our homes.
Following the CDC preventatives for COVID-19 (https://coronavirus.health.ny.gov/home), protect yourself by using proper handwashing etiquette, avoid touching your face, practice distancing yourself from other people approximately six feet apart, and stay home when you feel any symptoms of illness.
I recognize that we are in an unpredictable and unprecedented time, and we must do our part by helping to slow down the spread of this virus and ensure the safety of our community.
We are in this together, and we will get through this together.
