EMPLOYMENT CONNECTION

Putting people to work

Employment Connection is a program of Rochester Rehabilitation that helps adults with disabilities and other disadvantages successfully find and keep jobs. Nationally, people with disabilities experience an unemployment rate that’s nearly twice the rate of their non-disabled peers and are hit hardest by a struggling economy.

As an experienced provider of employment services, Employment Connection has served thousands of people with disabilities and other populations in the past decade. Our skilled and talented employment specialists have networked with dozens of local hiring managers in a broad range of businesses to fill vital roles and maximize employer and employee success.

Not only does work provide self-worth and financial independence, but also reduces reliance on public assistance and contributes to the local economy. More than 75% of the people who complete vocational programs secure employment for at least 20 hours per week and a ratio of 3:1 keep their job for at least one year.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT

Hands-on help to find and keep work

Supported Employment assists people with disabilities to obtain and maintain competitive employment. In continued partnership with New York State's Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) program, Supported Employment helps people without jobs to find work, employers to fill vacancies, and employees to adapt to their new environment more quickly and more smoothly than they would alone.

Assistance is free and includes:

Developing work readiness skills
Individually tailored supervision
Interacting with employers
Job coaching and placement
On-site assistive technology training

Additionally, work-based assessments, ten-day job readiness training programs, internships, direct placement services, and retention support are offered.
