Intensive psychiatric rehabilitative treatment (IPRT), also known as Ventures, helps individuals who are recovering from mental illness regain and redirect themselves to achieve personally meaningful goals. These goals may include:

  • Choosing a different place to live
  • Obtaining an education
  • Getting a job
  • Making new friends

Ventures works with participants to develop the skills and supports needed to ensure success and satisfaction in chosen goal areas.

Participants need to be psychiatrically stable and ready to focus on rehabilitation goals.

Rochester Rehabilitation Center and Strong Ties Community Support Program, a program of the University of Rochester Department of Psychiatry, jointly sponsor Ventures - IPRT.

Services Provided

Services are tailored to meet individual needs and to involve a combination of one-on-one and group work that promote recovery and self-empowerment.

Services follow three distinct phases ... Choose, Get, Keep

  • Choose – A rehabilitation goal related to living, learning, working, or socializing.
  • Get – Skills and supports needed to attain personal goals are identified and developed.
  • Keep – Supports are developed to ensure that goals can be maintained successfully.

The Staff

The IPRT staff includes professionals trained in nursing, psychiatric rehabilitation and counseling, social work, and art therapy.
