Our Mission
"Rochester Rehabilitation Center puts people to work and fosters active living. It provides rehabilitation and support services to people with disabilities and other disadvantages so that they can participate more fully in our community."
Who We Are
Rochester Rehabilitation Center:
- Has been providing physical, mental health, and vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities since 1919.
- Is one of the oldest and most successful United Way agencies in the area.
- Is a founding member of the Al Sigl Center Partnership, a community collaboration of eight independent agencies serving over
68,000 children and adults with disabilities annually.
- Serves 5,000 people each year throughout Western and Central New York.
- Has an annual operating budget of $10,600,000.
- Has a staff of 180 employees.
- Has 4 service sites.
What We Do
"Putting people to work and fostering active living..." is what Rochester Rehabilitation Center is all about. Our diverse programs and services are designed to support achievement. Our goal is to provide the supports, opportunities, and resources for people to achieve greater independence, productivity, and fulfillment in life.
In 2005...
- Vocation Rehabilitation
- 105 individuals with disabilities and other employment barriers were successful in securing community based employment
- 140 Out-Source work recipients earned a total of $700,200 from work
generated through subcontracted manufacturing, janitorial services, and the
Parrett Paper business line.
- Mental Health Services
- 98% of those served by Ventures IPRT improved their living, learning,
working and social role functioning.
- 98% of Case Management participants noticed an increase in self-sufficiency
and improved quality of life while 90% of clients discharged from the
Outpatient Clinic said their symptoms had stabilized or decreased.
- Outpatient Medical Rehabilitation
- Of those responding to a survey six months after being discharged, 82% of clients indicated that the services they had received helped them function better. Of the referring professionals responding to a similar survey, 97% were very satisfied with the services their patients obtained.
- Driver
Evaluation & Training and SportsNet
- 644 individuals, utilizing adaptive and non-adaptive technology, achieved a 93% success rate in acquiring for the first time or regaining a New York State driver’s license. Nine months later, 93% of the individuals who responded to follow-up efforts remained accident free.
- 479 people with physical disabilities experienced at least one sport, fitness, or recreation activity.
- 277 family, friends and community members participated in, instructed, coached or were volunteers for seven different sports/recreation activities as well as the annual SportsNet All-Star Challenge.
