Charles Roe Story
Finding strength, hope, and paying it forward
After an injury on the job left him with significant neck and back pain, Charles Roe was referred to Rochester Rehabilitation for physical therapy.
"I came to Rochester Rehabilitation's Physical Therapy program to regain my strength," said Charles. "I was physically and spiritually broken. Dianne Raney, my physical therapist, encouraged and helped me to come out of myself."
“Charles was very dedicated to doing his home exercises,” said Dianne. “He was motivated to improve and made good gains with physical therapy.”
Charles loves to garden and worried that he'd never plant flowers again or walk without the assistance of a cane. Now he kneels, bends, and walks with confidence.
Since completing physical therapy Charles continues to stay active with two wellness and post-therapy fitness programs offered at Rochester Rehabilitation. According to Diane, Stay Fit and Water Wellness have allowed Charles to maintain his strength and range of motion.
Charles wanted to do something to show his gratitude. So, after his Water Wellness class in December 2010, he quietly donated $1,000 along with a note to show his appreciation for the care he had received.
“Rochester Rehabilitation helped me get my life back,” said Charles. “I wanted to step up and pay it forward. It’s a gift from my heart.”
