Mental Health >> Continuing Day Treatment for Younger and Older Adults
Continuing Day Treatment (CDT) is a day treatment program for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who need a structured and supportive program to successfully live in the community.
Rochester Rehab has two continuing day treatment programs:
- Senior Connections - adults 55 years old and older
- Futures - adults 18 to 54 years old
The programs help the participants recognize that:
- They are not defined by their mental illness.
- They can live fuller and more productive lives.
- They can work toward their goals and dreams.
- They can contribute meaningfully to the community.
Services Provided
- Therapeutic Services - A therapist works in collaboration with a supervising psychiatrist to assist the individual in deciding what he or she would like to accomplish in treatment. Group therapies address areas of particular need such as symptom management, medications, emotions, or behaviors in order to remain in the community and avoid psychiatric hospitalization.
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) - DBT is offered in the Futures and Senior Connections programs as treatment for persons diagnosed with personality disorders.
- Leisure Life-Style Development - Leisure groups focus on assisting clients in improving recreation in their lives outside of the treatment environment.
- Social and Interpersonal Skills -Through groups, training, and coaching participants work on:
- Basic social skills
- Friendship development
- Social support activities
- Independent Living Skills - Independent living skills help people to better manage their lives and to become more self-sufficient.
- Goal Planning for the Future - An important part of the Continuing Day Treatment program is helping participants to plan and develop skills for their futures, reducing the need for ongoing treatment where possible.
